A true story of hope; Beacon of Hope Foundation supports girl impregnated and abandoned by her biological father

A man impregnated his own daughter, tried an abortion which failed. Now, he pleads with the court for a second DNA test, after the first one confirmed he is the father of the baby.
The victim, Ama, was 16 years-old anda JHS two student at the Fynn Upgrade Preparatory School in Prestea, a vibrant mining town in the western region.

Ama lived with her uncle until he passed away. Upon his death, Ama received orders from her biological mother to go live with her (Ama) father who had remarried in Prestea. Ama’s mother explained that her daughter’s father had not been responsible towards their ward’s upbringing and was therefore glad when he asked for their daughter to be sent to him to cater for her.

US threatens to cut over $500m aid to Ghana

The US government has threatened to cut about $500 million in private investments intended to help shore-up the dipping fortunes of the Electricity Company of Ghana, if the government remains unconcerned about curbing the threat of modern forms of slavery.

The US Ambassador to Ghana Robert Jackson has told Starr News his country, may be compelled to cut critical aid to Ghana, if the government fails to secure successful prosecutions of persons involved in the business of trafficking and child labour.

The 2016 Trafficking in Persons report puts Ghana on a shameful Tier 2 watch list position.
