SUMMARY:Community Outreach Program
DESCRIPTION:Access to health care is necessary for the well-being of children. A lack of medical care affects children’s growth by limiting their potential. \nIn fact\, health insurance is an important predictor of whether children or families will receive needed health care. In Ghana\, groups most at risk of being uninsured are children living with single parent or children in poor and near-poor families. \nIn ensuring a universal coverage\, Beacon of Hope Foundation will embark on free health insurance registration for street children. Apomudzen Hia Ma nkכsoכ will be the name for the event and it will be observed every year. Each year\, aside the foundation’s regular child sponsorship program\, BOHF will register about 400 children who do not have health insurance cards. \nEvery year\, the foundation will renew the cards of past beneficiaries who apply for renewal. Additionally\, 100 new members who do not have the cards will be registered. The exercise will happen in three different localities within the districts in which BOHF work. \nTwo days will be spent in each locality.
